One of the most photographed subjects in my catalogue are windows, due to their symbolic meaning and relationship to photography itself. A window's purpose is to allow light into a space and allow the viewer a glimpse into what lies on the other side, while also serving as a physical barrier into that space, much like a camera lens itself. However, with glass block, the light from the other side is manipulated and warped to the point that subject on the other side is indistinguishable, and only light, shadow, and color are allowed to pass through. This series is meant to highlight this difference and capture the diffused and filtered light in glass's alternative role in the picture taking process.
