This experiment portrays the spontaneity of what it is like to be among a large crowd of unknown people. The camera's perspective of being a part of the crowd is very limiting, and only allows a very narrow window of opportunity to capture glimpses of the people immediately around it. These images were taken during these decisive moments when the crowd temporarily parts. Together, these images capture and preserve the motion and atmosphere of what can be felt through the crowd. Due to the dark environment, the images needed a longer shutter speed in order to meter correctly, leading to the long exposure and ghostly appearance of the subjects. However, the ghost mentioned in the title could be interpreted in a different way, as in order to stealthily take pictures of others, I had to maneuver the crowd and remain unseen, as taking pictures of strangers is an uncomfortable and awkward experience.
